Michigan High School Hosts New Cybersecurity Training Facility
Pinckney Cyber Training Institute's education will be available to high school and college students as well as professionals.
The first cybersecurity training facility located in a US high school opened Wednesday in Pinckney, Mich. The Pinckney Cyber Training Institute and Sentinel Center will offer education, certifications, and the opportunity to earn college credit, not only to high school students, but also to college students and professionals.
The institute's cyber defense education program will offer hands-on cybersecurity coursework and labs. Students will also have access to early internship opportunities.
"The development of the Pinckney Cyber Training Institute is just one way we’re dedicating resources to educating people in cyber defense and subsequently protecting our citizens, infrastructure and economy," said Steve Arwood, CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, in a release.
The center will also serve as a hub for the Michigan Cyber Range, an organization that runs cyber defense and software security classes and exercises and is managed by the non-profit Merit Network.
