PALO ALTO, Calif. -- AirPatrol Corporation, the most trusted authority on wireless threats to wired and wireless networks, today announced it will offer the industry’s first Wi-Fi security solution that enables businesses to tap fast 802.11n capabilities without expensive upgrades to existing wireless network infrastructure. AirPatrol provides an innovative approach to 802.11n security that eliminates the bottlenecks of traditional wireless switch architecture and unleashes the full potential of high speed Wi-Fi.

“The new 802.11n Wi-Fi standard promises bandwidth capacity as much as six times higher than current speeds but existing WLAN switching infrastructure cannot efficiently handle the increased load,” said Nicholas Miller, CEO of AirPatrol. "By leveraging a distributed security architecture that utilizes AirPatrol's wireless security software, we are able to deliver a highly scalable solution that ensures companies can reap the benefits of high speed Wi-Fi without the need to redesign their networks and incur excessive redeployment costs."

Enterprise customers are eager to take advantage of the bandwidth capabilities of the new Wi-Fi technology to support massive volumes of data, voice, and video traffic. But the resulting increases in bandwidth requirements could result in clogged central switches and controllers that can't handle the huge jump in traffic loads. Industry analysts have noted that the high throughputs of 802.11n pose a significant scalability challenge for products that perform encryption and decryption on the wireless switch, requiring potentially costly upgrades.
