PRESS RELEASE
Cigital, the largest consulting firm specializing in software security and quality, announced today that it has acquired the European consulting, assessment and training operations of Security Innovation. This acquisition will broaden Cigital's reach and expand its capability to support trans-Atlantic clients more completely.
The global software security market continues to grow and thrive, even in the face of a worldwide recession. According to Dr. Gary McGraw, Cigital's CTO, North American software security revenues are approaching $500M. The European market, currently estimated at euro 50M ($70M), is in line to grow even faster than the rapidly expanding US market now that awareness and adoption of software security is a priority for business leaders worldwide. The establishment of a European office allows Cigital to cement its leadership position in global software security services and will enable a strong presence in the UK and Northern Europe as the market evolves.
"Enterprises often lack expertise and experience in securing their applications, applying modern detection and prevention technologies, software security architecture, and programming practices," stated Joseph Feiman, VP and Gartner Fellow. "Solving these problems by reaching out to the security services industry, and its specialized security vendors, is a viable solution for enterprises' needs."
Cigital now has offices in Amsterdam and London and will continue to develop its client base already established in the UK. It will also be able to offer Security Innovation's training, e-learning and testing products.
"We are very excited to be joining forces with Cigital to continue our delivery of software security excellence," said Florence Mottay, Managing Principal of the European office. "Cigital's thought leadership in software security complements our technical capabilities perfectly and will allow us to broaden both our client base and our service offerings."
"Establishing a European presence is an important component of our growth strategy," said John Wyatt, CEO of Cigital. "The software security space is maturing rapidly in Europe and we are very pleased to be at the forefront of this growth. We look forward to producing a fast growing profitable practice that makes a huge impact on the industry on both sides of the Atlantic."
