OTTAWA -- CRYPTOCard (www.cryptocard.com), the leading authentication technology developer for heterogeneous environments, today announced a distribution partnership with Ottawa-based Interwork Technologies Inc. (www.Interwork.com), one of the world’s leading value-added distributors of business IP security and communications solutions. This strategic partnership will enable Interwork to distribute CRYPTOCard’s CRYPTO-Shield (previously called CRYPTO-Server) two-factor authentication solution in both Canada and the United States.

Developed to meet real-world requirements – where Linux and Mac workstations often live in a mixed Windows domain, with Windows clients and Apache or IIS Web servers – CRYPTOCard’s event-based two-factor authentication tokens make it simple and cost effective to eliminate weak static passwords by generating a random password for every logon attempt. As one-time passwords cannot be reused by hackers and do not need to be memorized by users, they eliminate the help-desk costs associated with resetting forgotten passwords, and the security risk resulting from writing them down.

“For the past year, Interwork has been evaluating two-factor authentication solutions – the weakest link of any security solution – and CRYPTOCard stood out from all others because it provides a simple-to-use, simple-to-manage, and cost-effective alternative to static passwords,” said Ken Lewis, Vice-President, Sales at Interwork Technologies. “This is a very exciting partnership which offers Interwork’s reseller partners the opportunity to move into the two-factor authentication space very easily,” Lewis continued. “Interwork is also pleased that CRYPTOCard has underscored its 100 per cent commitment to the channel by offering very generous margins for partners.”
