Dell introduced Dell ProSupport Mobility Services to help companies track lost laptops, remotely delete sensitive information if necessary, and recover information from damaged computers.Dell commissioned the Ponemon Institute to survey more than 100 airports about lost or stolen laptops. The survey found that more than 12,000 laptops are reported lost each week at airports, and 69 percent of them are never recovered. "Up to 600,000 laptops are lost in U.S. airports annually, many containing sensitive information that companies must account for," said Larry Ponemon, chairman and founder of the Institute.

The new ProSupport services are aimed at protecting businesses from the dangers of lost laptops. The services include laptop tracking and recovery, remote deletion of data from a wayward machine, hard drive recovery, and certified data destruction.ChannelWeb, Dell press release
