Giuliani To Coordinate Between Govt., Private Sector On Cybersecurity
Former New York City mayor believes private industry has the answer to cybersecurity matters, which the government wants to explore.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said on Fox News that on behalf of the Trump government, he will be coordinating an advisory body to connect the administration with corporate leaders on cybersecurity matters, reports Ars Technica. The goal of this group, he said, will be to provide government with information from the private sector and initiate a connection between the two groups so they can work together.
"The President-elect decided that he wanted to bring in on a regular basis the private sector—the corporate leaders in particular and thought leaders in particular for cyber, because we're so far behind," said Giuliani, adding "That's where we have the great creativity and we have the huge amount of money, and that's where we have these great companies, the greatest in the world."
Though there is no clarity on who these "thought leaders" will be, the former mayor indicated that overseas cybersecurity companies, including some from Israel, will be part of the group.
