Hacked server contained casino employee information, state officials say
Thousands of Iowa employees are at risk of having their identities stolen after a hacker gained access to a server that held confidential information, according to a warning from the state government.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission says someone hacked into a server that holds more than 80,000 records containing casino employee information, according to news reports. That server contains personal records, including names, birth dates, and Social Security numbers.
Details on how the hack occurred have not yet been revealed.
The commission is warning anyone who has obtained occupational licenses to work at Iowa racing and gaming venues to keep an eye on their credit reports, and report unusual activity to police.
