Ingrian's new innovative discovery tool that helps enterprise users identify and locate sensitive information throughout their databases
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Ingrian® Networks, Inc., the leading provider of data privacy solutions, today announced the release of an innovative discovery tool that helps enterprise users identify and locate sensitive information throughout their databases. The Ingrian data discovery tool can scan databases for clear text account numbers and data including credit card, bank account and social security numbers, and e-mail addresses, helping database administrators and security directors quickly identify where sensitive data exists —saving time and enabling them to better secure personally identifiable information (PII).
“DBAs and IT organizations who handle sensitive data face a daunting task of discovering where all the sensitive data within their organization exists,” stated Derek Tumulak, vice president of Product Management, Ingrian Networks. “The Ingrian discovery tool will serve as a powerful asset for data stewards to quickly and efficiently scan hundreds of databases for exposed credit card data.”
Since the discovery tool can locate clear text data, and users can define their own regular expressions to scan for, it is also can act as a compliance validation tool. Data that has already been encrypted and stored in cipher text will not appear in the search results of the discovery tool. Therefore, organizations can validate that the encryption they have in place is effectively safeguarding their data. The discovery tool currently works with Oracle 8i, 9i, 10g and SQL Server 2000, 2005 databases.
The Ingrian data discovery tool is a Java-based application that can quickly and easily install on any platform supporting Java Virtual Machines (JVM). To download a free copy, please visit Ingrian’s website at: http://www.ingrian.com/info/reg_ddt.html
