Microsoft has gone public with a beta of Stirling, its next-gen Forefront security platform that aims to simplify security across an organization's infrastructure.Stirling, first announced in June 2007, is designed to save businesses money and time by letting system managers monitor servers, individual computers and employees with network access through a single console, according to Microsoft. Stirling works with Forefront Client Security, Forefront Security for Exchange Server, Forefront Security for SharePoint Forefront Threat Management Gateway.

"The benefit to customers is not just centralized visibility and control, but also information that can be used to guide policy," a Microsoft systems integrator said in a statement.
