NYC Transit Selects Blue Coat
New York City Transit has selected Blue Coat SG appliances and Blue Coat WebFilter to secure, control and accelerate its network
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Blue Coat® Systems (Nasdaq: BCSI), the leader in secure content and application delivery, today announced that New York City Transit has selected Blue Coat SG appliances and Blue Coat WebFilter to secure, control and accelerate its network and applications. The Blue Coat appliances are deployed at NYC Transit’s connection point to the Internet in their headquarters and disaster recovery location. The appliances help protect the organization’s data, users and applications from direct contact with the Internet and help prevent the introduction of viruses, spyware and other malware while providing granular control over the use of streaming media, peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing, instant messaging (IM) and general Web surfing. The Blue Coat SG appliances also appropriately accelerate content and applications.
A significant factor in the selection of Blue Coat by NYC Transit was the integrated nature of the appliances, combining all functionality—Web security, URL filtering, reporting, acceleration and content/application control—into a single appliance with a single management interface and overall policy creation and enforcement environment. In addition, the Blue Coat SG appliances integrate with user authentication using either LDAP or Active Directory, enabling single sign-on and advanced levels of security.
“Blue Coat SG appliances keep the NYC Transit network and employees operating safely and efficiently,” said Steve Mullaney, vice president of worldwide marketing for Blue Coat Systems. “We simultaneously secure, control and accelerate content and applications all from a single platform.”
