67 percent of IT departments did not experience layoffs in the last year. The outlook for IT is expected to be consistent with only 25 percent expecting layoffs in the next 12 months.
31 percent continue to roll out new technologies
Budgets were actually expected to increase by 3 percent on average
"It's good to see IT organizations less affected by recession than other departments," said Charles Thompson, product manager for Network Instruments. "The network has become a more integral component in conducting business, making it less likely to be the target of budget cuts. Companies that cut IT dollars risk reducing productivity and competitive advantages they may enjoy."
