FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- CourionĀ® Corporation, the provisioning experts for results-driven operations, today announced findings from its annual poll conducted at CONVERGE 07, Courion's customer conference held in May. Results from the live, interactive polling provide insight into the priorities and challenges of implementing provisioning and access compliance strategies and covered topics ranging from role management to emerging user access concerns.

Survey data identifies role definition and prioritization of internal business processes as the most daunting barriers to getting started with provisioning. Fewer respondents concerned about justifying return-on-investment (ROI) or impact on existing infrastructure indicate a maturing view of provisioning and access compliance where the business value of these initiatives is coming to the forefront, a significant theme of the event.

Role Management's Impact on Compliance

Role Management was cited by 28 percent of respondents as the number one identity management solution with the greatest impact on compliance activities, followed by identity audit/attestation (26 percent) and user provisioning (25 percent). Supporting the penetration of role management, 65 percent of respondents have either already begun implementing or plan to implement role management solutions within the next 18 months.

Defining roles was cited by 40 percent of the respondents as the greatest technology barrier to actually getting started with provisioning. This demonstrates that the majority of our customers do not see roles as a barrier to provisioning, further validating the importance of having embedded automated Role Management capabilities with provisioning that effectively streamline business processes and more effectively manage access rights to IT resources based on corporate policy.
