Seattle Times Selects Imprivata

LEXINGTON, Mass. -- Imprivata®, Inc., the enterprise authentication and access management appliance company, today announced that the Seattle Times Company has implemented Imprivata OneSign™ Single Sign-On (SSO) to give its employees one simple method for accessing company systems and applications, improving the speed with which they can obtain and use information.

With a deadline-driven workforce dispersed across various regional locations—and over one hundred systems and applications needing to be accessed by those employees every day—the potential for security breaches was high. To safeguard the company, its employees and its customers, internal security policies are frequently reviewed and updated. However, as older systems were upgraded or replaced with newer systems that require a separate login and stronger passwords, complaints from employees increased about spending too much time logging in and out of systems and having to remember more and stronger passwords. It was affecting their ability to meet deadlines or work on breaking news. In the areas under particularly high deadline pressure, adding even a single character to a required password length was perceived to be too disruptive.
