HERNDON, Va. -- SecureWave, a worldwide leader in endpoint security, today announced the availability of Device Scanner, a free discovery tool designed to show IT administrators the history of all portable storage devices that have ever connected to scanned corporate endpoints. Available through SecureWave-certified reseller partners, Device Scanner enables customers and prospects to quickly and easily assess device usage and potential data leakage and malware entry points within the company.

The threat of data leakage and theft via portable media, as well as recent incidents of malware on portable devices-including Apple's iPods and promotional MP3 players from McDonald's-have raised awareness on the issues of device control and policy enforcement in the enterprise. Using powerful auditing capabilities, Device Scanner can quickly create a report of all devices that have connected to workstations in a Windows network. Device Scanner scans on a predefined schedule, enumerating scanned computers, devices and device attributes to generate four different reports that contain a historical log of all devices that have ever been connected to corporate endpoints.
