PRESS RELEASE

Richardson, Texas, August 18, 2010 –Sipera Systems, the leader in real-time Unified Communications (UC) enablement and security, today announced it has joined the Cisco Security Assessment Program, which supports Cisco resellers’ efforts to identify customers’ enterprise network UC infrastructure risks, protect sensitive assets, and prevent further threats. Specifically, Sipera and Cisco are offering free (after rebates) training for Sipera VIPER Lab Vulnerability Assessment Services (VAST).

VIPER Lab VAST training enables authorized security professionals to identify gaps in enterprise UC security architectures, and uncover systems configurations that threaten communications privacy, integrity and availability. In addition, VAST reports provide detailed vulnerability accountings and rankings, along with mitigation recommendations, to help improve enterprise security postures. For resellers, VAST delivers added value to customers, and can expand revenue streams.

“Enterprise IT environments are always in flux, and the lack of vigilant security operations gives channel partners many opportunities for service engagements to identify risks, protect sensitive assets, and prevent further threats,” said Andy Asava, Vice President of Business Development at Sipera. “By partnering with Cisco, we can help resellers regularly test enterprise networks for vulnerabilities, and develop customized mitigation solutions – at no cost.”

“Today, we have moved into an era where stealth and target attacks are the greater problem. It’s a focused adversary in electronic espionage and insider threats. These aren’t new, but they are taking a different form,” said John Stewart, Vice President and Chief Security Officer for Cisco. “We are seeing targeted attacks directed at particular companies, almost tailored to their infrastructure, designed for their people or processes and it is happening because so much about that company is public.”

Asava added, “These sophisticated, targeted attacks apply to UC vulnerabilities that may compromise business critical communications. Sipera VIPER Lab VAST training helps resellers better safeguard their enterprise customers’ UC infrastructures, and deliver the highest levels of communications privacy and security.”

For qualified Cisco resellers, the VAST training cost is discounted by Sipera, with the balance rebated by Cisco upon completion of vulnerability assessments. The companies are also offering marketing development funds, and other incentives, depending on the volume of enterprise assessments conducted. For more information, resellers can participate in the Cisco and Sipera Security Assessment Program Overview webinar on September 1, at 9:00 a.m. PST, at http://bit.ly/95nwhy.
