Sunbeltlabs' look at December's top ten malware threats offers a reminder that while Trojans remain the biggest threat, search strings are gaining fast, particularly searches involving young dead celebrities (Brittany Murphy)and -- surprise! -- Tiger Woods.The look back at December's top threats from security company Sunbelt Software identified six of the ten as Trojans.
A threat making its debut on the list was a browser add-on, Fast Browser Search, that plants a search box in the toolbar and supersedes other browser search settings.
Whether or not your people have fallen for the Fast Browser Search scam, they were likeliest to get stung in December -- and sting your business -- by Trojan-bearing malsites if they search for Brittany Murphy, Tiger Woods or New Year's parties. Odds are Tiger will persist into 2010, while Brittany and auld acquaintance become forgot.
