POST FALLS, Idaho -- TriGeo Network Security, the proactive network defense company, today announced it has joined the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council as a Participating Organization. As a Participating Organization, TriGeo will work with the Council to evolve the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) and other payment card data protection standards.

The PCI DSS, endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc., requires merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data to adhere to information security controls and processes that ensure data integrity. More information on the council and the standard can be found at www.pcisecuritystandards.org.

As the industry’s only real-time security information and event management (SIEM) solution targeting the mid-market, TriGeo streamlines several PCI requirements through hundreds of pre-built rules and reports for data and network protection and the ability to easily create new rules on the fly. Its appliance is architected for enterprises which typically fall into the PCI Level II and Level III merchant categories, processing one to six million credit card transactions annually and 20,000 to one million credit card transactions annually, respectively. TriGeo documents all machine, user and network activity and defends the network with proactive responses such as quarantining, blocking, routing and controlling services, processes, accounts and privileges.

Joining the Council gives TriGeo the opportunity to shape existing PCI data security standards while helping implement new criteria to meet evolving data protection safeguards for financial institutions, banks, merchants, processors and point of sale vendors. TriGeo’s CTO, Michael Maloof, is a recognized network and data security expert, working with large Silicon Valley companies including Hewlett Packard, Advanced Micro Devices, Varian Associates, KLA-Tencor and NGK. Michael is a published author, and co-inventor of TriGeo’s patent-pending event correlation graphical user interface.

“Consumers have a right to expect that their credit and debit card purchases are safe, and ensuring that they are requires a genuine commitment to security,” said Michelle Dickman, president of TriGeo Network Security. “We’re dedicated to working with the PCI Security Standards Council to map best practices that protect all parties: customers, merchants, banks and outsourced payment processors.”
