London, UK "16 June, 2009 " GlobalSign Ltd. (www.globalsign.co.uk), one of the longest established Certification Authorities (CA) and specialists in SSL Partner Programs, today announced that the UK's biggest hosting group, Webfusion (www.webfusion.co.uk / www.123-reg.co.uk / www.donhost.co.uk), has joined the GlobalSign Partner Program and will be promoting GlobalSign's full range of SSL Certificates including the latest Extended Validation SSL. The newly formed partnership will allow customers to easily obtain, install and activate the SSL security to secure their purchasing, checkout, login pages and other next generation online services using GlobalSign's highly trusted 2048bit SSL technology.

After choosing GlobalSign to take advantage of its simplified but feature packed SSL Certificate portfolio, Webfusion decided to offer SSL as both a standalone retail offering and bundled with existing hosting packages. The affiliation with GlobalSign will enable Webfusion to offer all three types of SSL Certificate, including fast issuance Domain Validation, traditional Organisation Validation and the newly standardised Extended Validation (EV) SSL, which activates the green address bar interface in IE, Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari browsers.

"We have partnered with GlobalSign, an established international Certificate Authority, to offer the most feature packed and cost effective SSL security options to our customers," says Thomas Vollrath, Managing Director at Webfusion, "Given how security conscious online shoppers have become, businesses must now provide the reassurances that help convert visitors into customers and aim to reduce the amount of shopping cart abandonment due to security concerns."

"Since launching the SSL Partner Program back in 2007, GlobalSign has seen many partners switch to GlobalSign to take advantage of our SSL program and the financial opportunity it offers," says Paul Tourret, Managing Director, GlobalSign Ltd, "With Webfusion joining GlobalSign, we are delighted a much wider audience is able to benefit from the strong and credible security that GlobalSign SSL provides."

All GlobalSign SSL Certificates are inclusive of Server Gated Cryptography (SGC) (to "step up" weak browser encryption to strong encryption on older browsers), and support wildcard technology and Subject Alternative Names (SANs for Unified Communications) to allow the securing of multiple sites with a single Certificate. All GlobalSign Certificates are issued from the widely distributed 2048 bit GlobalSign Root CA Certificate.

GlobalSign SSL Certificates are immediately available from Webfusion at www.webfusion.co.uk, www.123-reg.co.uk and www.donhost.co.uk.
