Webinar: Best Practices for Data Security
Gamma hosts Webinar with former Symantec security VP on best practices for SAP data security
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. -- Gamma Enterprise Technologies, creator of InfoShuttle® and a leading global provider of application data management software solutions for companies running SAP® applications, today announced that it will host a webinar entitled, “Best Practices for SAP Data Security in Development and Test Environments” with Information Security expert Louis Carpenito, CISSP, CISM. In this one hour webinar, Carpenito will draw on his experiences as a senior information security executive at Symantec, Fidelity and Johnson & Johnson to discuss strategies that businesses running SAP can employ to protect data in their development and test environments.
In a recent Gamma Survey of SAP users, 65 percent of organizations said they were concerned with data security in their non-production environments, and for good reason. Since January, 10, 2005, there have been over 605 reported breaches resulting in over 167 million data records with sensitive personal information compromised. Non-production environments used for development, QA and training purposes are generally “open” with little or no logging and monitoring, and are often accessed remotely. As a result, they invite both inside and external threats to harvest sensitive personal information with relative ease and without detection. It is crucial that companies take steps to protect this vulnerable information while ensuring data integrity at the application development level.
The Gamma webinar will focus on both access control and methodologies for obfuscating data while permitting open access to these systems. Carpenito will discuss industry trends and current thought leadership directions to protect sensitive data in development and test environments. He will also talk about practical applications and techniques to reduce potential legal, regulatory and shareholder liability; streamline QA processes and ensure a higher quality software product; reduce downtime to correct security flaws; and save costs by preventing defects that can cost between two and five times as much to correct after the fact.
