STOCKHOLM -- AppGate Network Security has announced that its next-generation network security solution has been deployed by a metropolitan police force in the UK to support specialist officers working in the field.

AppGate provides a true Mobile solution that protects information on the network and controls access for users who need to work from any location. For the police force, AppGate’s technology will help specialist officers operate more effectively, enabling them to access highly sensitive data and applications wherever and whenever they need to. The AppGate solution supports access from any mobile device including laptops, PDAs and smartphones, for any operator over any network, which makes it possible to move between mobile and wi-fi networks seamlessly.

According to AppGate’s CEO, Göran Marby, “I am proud that AppGate’s technology has been selected to support the police service in the UK. The AppGate solution was originally designed for the defence industry and we have established a strong presence in the sector, with a number of government departments and police forces in Europe and the US now using our technology.

“With AppGate technology, the customer has control at all times, and full traceability of which applications are accessed by whom. Thus the police force can leverage the flexibility of mobile technology whilst ensuring that information remains secure.”
