JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Fidelity National Information Services (NYSE:FIS) today announced that the HORIZON Banking System has been enhanced with PKWARE's SecureZIP data security solution.

Built on the widely adopted and completely interoperable ZIP standard, SecureZIP provides state-of-the-art encryption and digital signature capabilities. The solution helps organizations mitigate risk by ensuring that customer account information and other valuable data is protected from theft, loss or misuse.

"FIS clients depend on them for an evolving, leading edge banking solution to respond to the financial needs of their customers," said Tim Kennedy, president and chief operating officer of PKWARE. "Enhancing the security of client information is now a major requirement of that solution. We are extremely pleased to be partnering with FIS to deliver the highest caliber data protection for financial institutions large and small."

The HORIZON Banking System consists of a fully integrated suite of applications and features to allow community and mid-tier banks to manage financial and general ledger activities, deposit and loan accounts, customer relationships, transaction processing, tax reporting, document imaging and more. With SecureZIP, the client banks can integrate encryption and digital signing capabilities into automated processes for end-of-day backups on their iSeries systems. Data security and integrity persists even when SecureZIP files are transferred to offsite servers or stored on CD or tape, assuring that only authorized persons with the appropriate decryption keys may access the files.

"As a market leader in core processing services and software for our banking customers, data security is a critical component of any solution we offer," said Kaivan Rahbari, senior vice president for FIS' Integrated Financial Solutions division. "Many of the institutions we serve are community and mid-tier banks that look to us for a solution to provide strong protection for valuable account information. SecureZIP was the obvious choice. Due to the architecture of SecureZIP, we were able to imbed its modules with HORIZON providing seamless integration with our normal daily file operations. This allows us to provide enhanced functionality to our client base with minimal changes to their operating practices."
