REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced the immediate availability of the new VPN-1® Power ™ Multi-core. Leveraging Check Point’s patent-pending CoreXL acceleration technology announced last May, VPN-1 Power Multi-core redefines the balance of security and performance; ensuring organizations receive the highest levels of integrated application security without impeding network traffic and degrading an end user’s Internet experience.

The new VPN-1 Power Multi-core leverages open multi-core architectures, for example the Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5300 Series and others, in order to deliver unprecedented processing speeds of up to 5.3 Mbps integrated intrusion prevention throughput with a security profile designed to protect the perimeter of most large enterprise networks.

“Thanks to Check Point’s innovations, custom ASICs are quickly becoming obsolete,” said Paulo Vieira, network administrator at Porto University. “Before we deployed VPN-1 Multi-core on our network, we were constantly faced with the need to make no-win compromises between security and network performance. But with Check Point, there is no compromise, and we are free to focus our efforts on leveraging our network for business growth.”
