NIAP Certifies AirTight

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- AirTight Networks, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that two of its products:

have now been listed on the NIAP/Common Criteria certification list. ()

The AirTight Networks' WIPS solutions being certified through this process - will cover all aspects of wireless IPS protection - large site or headquarters facilities, branch or field office facilities, and laptops that are traveling and not in a federally protected facility. NIAP Common Criteria certification is mandated for wireless LAN equipment installed by the US Department of Defense. The most recent memorandum from the DoD on WLANs () actually requires installation of wireless IDS or IPS tools - that have been certified through this process. With this listing, AirTight is the only vendor with a complete solution for the DoD's requirements. NIAP Common Criteria certification is also required by many other governments and institutions that have adopted these criteria, including the Canadian government.

The Common Criteria certification efforts for AirTight's products are being conducted by CygnaCom Solutions Inc. CygnaCom Solutions' Security Evaluation Lab (SEL) is a certified NIAP Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL) authorized to conduct product evaluations according to the Common Criteria (CC) (ISO/IEC 15408) and the Common Evaluation Methodology (CEM) under the U.S. scheme. The CygnaCom Solutions SEL was among the first CCTLs to be accredited by NIAP, in August 2000.
