REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- RedSeal™ Systems Inc., today announced the general availability of version 2.1 of its flagship product, RedSeal Security Risk Manager (SRM). The new release allows RedSeal SRM to increase the security posture of fixed and wireless networks providing any enterprise that manages, or is planning to install, a wireless network in their infrastructure with timely information on the threats and risks it may introduce to their business.

“The proliferation of wireless networks supporting roaming workers, guests, and transient users requires a number of new measures to identify and shut down vulnerabilities before security breaches can occur. Increasingly stringent compliance regulations combined with the growing number of security threats add pressure on enterprises to get the most out of existing security safeguards,” said Jon Oltsik, senior analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group. “The ability to quickly detect and mitigate network vulnerabilities is becoming imperative for enterprises to effectively utilize these security investments. With the new features in RedSeal SRM 2.1, companies can take a more proactive approach to managing risk.”

New capabilities in RedSeal SRM v2.1 can identify all threats and exploit holes to business assets that start at any level of a wireless network. While enterprises have traditionally focused on protecting the wireless network data transmission using encryption or by limiting access to the network through authentication, RedSeal SRM goes beyond these measures and identifies what paths are available from the wireless networks into an enterprise’s internal network infrastructure. Resulting reports can also show configuration errors and vulnerabilities associated with these paths, and show remediation methods to manage and minimize these risks.
