CHICAGO -- Safe and Soft company (Moscow, Russia), the acknowledged expert in software security solutions, today announced the debut of its Safe’n’Sec host intrusion prevention system. Designed to protect data and user applications from threats posed by hackers, computer viruses, and spyware modules, Safe’n’Sec intercepts application system calls at the OS level, granting or denying system access based on a variety of predefined and user-customizable criteria.

Available in four different versions (Safe’n’Sec Personal, Safe’n’Sec Personal plus Antivirus, Safe’n’Sec Personal plus Anti-Spyware, and Safe’n’Sec Business), Safe’n’Sec offers home and business users an elevated level of system security by dynamically detecting and prohibiting unauthorized activity before system damage occurs.

Unlike traditional firewall and antiviral technologies that grant or deny application access based on program code, Safe’n’Sec analyzes application behavior in order to determine an application’s potential maliciousness, blocking system access to not just known malware programs but to any applications exhibiting unauthorized behavior. An HIPS-class product (Host-based Intrusion Prevention System), Safe’n’Sec’s proactive security technology prohibits malicious activity as soon as it begins—not after code has been changed as the result of an infection.

The Safe’n’Sec security solutions identify applications either by the individual application’s unique properties, including hard disk location and valid digital signature, or by a pre-determined list of core “safe” applications (MS Office, system utilities, etc.). Periodic updates to core applications are dynamically vetted by Safe’n’Sec’s iTrust Engine, which verifies their identification properties and blocks disguised or potentially malicious applications. Finally, Safe’n’Sec users can define a number of different activity control policies to govern the behavior of software applications, blocking or allowing applications based on a set of predefined rules.
