COLUMBIA, Md. -- Open source innovator and Snort® creator, Sourcefire, Inc. (Nasdaq: FIRE), a leader in network intrusion prevention, today announced its Enterprise Threat Management (ETM) strategy, along with the introduction of the Sourcefire Master Defense Center and post-connect network access control (NAC) functionality.

“The key to effective and efficient network security is intelligence – threat, network, endpoint and user data that can be correlated and leveraged to drive more precise and accurate protection,” said Scott Crawford, Senior Analyst at Enterprise Management Associates. “Enterprises can no longer afford to implement ‘point’ solutions that are managed separately and don’t share intelligence. Sourcefire’s ETM strategy offers a fresh approach to defending dynamically changing networks by integrating four key network security technologies under one management console.”

Built on a common foundation of threat, network, endpoint and user intelligence, the Sourcefire 3D System™ unifies four key ETM solutions – Intrusion Prevention (IPS), Network Behavior Analysis (NBA), Network Access Control (NAC) and Vulnerability Assessment – to defend enterprise networks at all stages of the attack continuum – Before, During and After the attack. Sourcefire is the first network security vendor to integrate all four ETM components under the same management console, affording customers with both efficient and effective means for defending complex networks against today’s most costly threats.
