The Detroit Tigers deployed the StealthWatch System to protect the Comerica Park network from internal and external threats
ATLANTA -- Lancope, Inc., the provider of StealthWatch™, the most widely used network behavior analysis (NBA) and response solution, today announced that the Detroit Tigers deployed the StealthWatch System to protect the Comerica Park network from internal and external threats.
“As the Tigers head into the postseason we are providing four times the network capacity we did for last year’s All-Star game,” said Scott Wruble, director of IT for the Detroit Tigers. “We needed a robust system to monitor and protect our network investment and Lancope has come to our aid in a pinch, getting StealthWatch up and running quickly.”
The Tigers have a diverse network supporting a wide variety of systems and applications, including point-of-sale, ticketing, baseball operations, media connectivity and corporate users. They also utilize the network to stream live video feeds to the Major League Baseball server throughout Tigers’ games. During the playoffs, the Tigers expect more than 600 media users and at least 80 corporate users, many of which will be using the Tigers’ network to send and receive rich media files.
“The All-Star game produced substantial traffic and we have added DS3 capability to the park’s network to accommodate the spike in traffic we expect with the playoff games,” said Wruble. “We want to avoid any network downtime as a result of online threats, viruses, worms or misuse that could occur from such a wide range of people accessing the network. We expect StealthWatch to examine traffic and block anything malicious.”
