SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Vyatta today announced the availability of Vyatta Subscription Edition 2.0. A commercially supported open-source networking solution, this release adds VPN functionality to the routing and firewall capabilities available in the previous commercial releases. Vyatta’s Subscription Edition 2.0 is available as a software subscription with tiered service and support options, or as a pre-configured hardware appliance that can be easily dropped into a network.

"Vyatta has provided excellent performance, reliability, and security for our QuesGen application," said Michael Jarrett, founder and CEO at QuesGen, who is relying on Vyatta to ensure the security of the company's online medical application, simplify day-to-day management, and reduce network expenses. "Combining standard x86 hardware with Vyatta's great software and support enables us to deploy a high-performance, quality network solution at unmatched economics."

As an open-source solution based on standard hardware, Vyatta enables network administrators a clear alternative to the inflexible and costly hardware/software products from proprietary vendors. Vyatta’s Subscription Edition 2.0 delivers the features, performance, and reliability of an enterprise-class router, firewall and VPN.
