Xirrus selected by international telecommunication union for high density WiFi deployment in Geneva
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Xirrus, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance, long-range Wi-Fi products, announced today that the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has purchased Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays, Management System and Security Modules for deployment throughout the International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG) to support a worldwide conference expected to attract more than 2,000 participants in October 2007.
“Xirrus was selected because they were best able to meet the rigorous requirements to support our upcoming conferences,” said Pradeep Prasad, Head Infrastructure Division, International Telecommunication Union. “The capacity, coverage and upgradeability to 802.11n will enable ITU to deploy a scalable, long lasting Wi-Fi infrastructure at the CICG.”
The International Conference Centre Geneva is owned by the Building Foundation for International Organizations (FIPOI), statutory independent foundation created in 1964 by the Swiss Confederation and the State of Geneva. The world renowned facility has played host to several historic meetings and conferences and was entirely renovated and its capacity enlarged in 2004. A new extended entrance and an innovative, flexible multi-purpose area, among other state-of-the-art improvements, make it the ideal venue for a wide range of events.
“We are excited to be deployed at such a historic location as the International Conference Center in Geneva,” said John DiGiovanni, regional director of sales and marketing for EMEA at Xirrus. “We were able to provide them with the equipment they needed for a future proof Wi-Fi network and are committed to delivering the most technologically advanced and powerful Wi-Fi solution worldwide.”
