PRESS RELEASE
SAN FRANCISCO, April 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CloudPassage, Inc., a pioneering security SaaS company, today announced that it has completed a Series A round of financing led by Benchmark Capital. Kevin Harvey, General Partner at Benchmark, will join the company's board.
"We're excited to be working with CloudPassage at this pivotal time as they look to grow their company both in terms of talent and product offerings," said Kevin Harvey, general partner of Benchmark Capital. "The team at CloudPassage has a distinct vision for cloud security, the number one inhibitor to cloud adoption, and they complement our existing portfolio of cloud investments perfectly. Benchmark is focused on working with great entrepreneurs who are building innovative early-stage companies, and there is no better example of this than CloudPassage."
Server-level security protection is critical in the cloud where front-line perimeter defenses are limited. Customers deploying cloud servers are largely on their own to protect them; strong and highly automated host-based controls are essential. CloudPassage is the only company delivering completely portable, elastic and highly scalable server security capabilities.
"We are delighted to be working with such a committed team that's known for building great companies," said Carson Sweet, co-founder and CEO of CloudPassage. "Benchmark's cloud computing portfolio shows progressive thinking and commitment to this highly disruptive set of technologies. They immediately understood our vision around IaaS security and the scope of the opportunity."
CloudPassage's key innovation is the Halo architecture, providing automation of multiple server security functions and transparently handling the highly fluid and scalable characteristics of public IaaS environments. CloudPassage technology is purpose-built to provide elastic, portable and extremely scalable security by automatically securing cloud servers when they burst or are cloned. Halo combines an ultra-lightweight guest VM software component with an elastic compute grid optimized for security operations, an architecture that has opened up significant new security capabilities to companies leveraging IaaS. Customers realize greatly reduced attack surfaces, lower risk of compromise and improved compliance.
