  • Larry Ellison, Oracle's CEO, demonstrated planned capabilities of a future release of Oracle' Enterprise Manager, including support for managing Oracle's next-generation Fusion Applications and new integration with Oracle's support services, at his Oracle OpenWorld keynote on October 14, 2009.

    -- The demonstration showed Oracle Enterprise Manager dashboards for Oracle Fusion Applications, which are being designed to make it easy for administrators to monitor and manage all aspects of Oracle Fusion Applications.

    -- The keynote also previewed a planned integration with My Oracle Support, Oracle's next-generation online customer support experience. This integration aids customers in the time-consuming task of patch management providing proactive patch recommendations and patch automation, helping them ensure their systems are continuously up-to-date. It also provides increased visibility into production environments, enabling a more efficient means for meeting regulatory, compliance and governance requirements.

    -- Oracle Enterprise Manager is a comprehensive product family of management software for applications and IT infrastructure resources. Delivering management that spans applications, middleware, database and virtual infrastructure, Oracle Enterprise Manager provides top-down application management for the enterprise application stack comprising Oracle and non-Oracle software.

    Comprehensive Application Management Extends Superior Ownership Experience

    • Oracle Fusion Applications customers can benefit from the following planned capabilities:

      -- End-to-end application performance management " Integrated application performance management from user experience monitoring down to the infrastructure management without requiring the use of multiple tools, manual set up or other customization. With these planned capabilities, many application performance problems may be prevented while others will take significantly less time to diagnose and remediate, all within Oracle Enterprise Manager.

      -- Correlation of business and IT activity " Customers would be able to monitor Key Business Performance Indicators and automatically map them to IT components, enabling IT to be more responsive to business needs and focus on what matters to the business. Business managers and IT decision makers would have clear visibility into business performance and IT service availability.

      -- Automatic topology discovery " Plans include capabilities within Oracle Enterprise Manager to automatically discover the application topologies and the dependencies among various physical and virtual components and infrastructure. With planned automatic change detection, Oracle Enterprise Manager would accelerate problem diagnosis and remediation by keeping an accurate model of the enterprise and helping administrators quickly traverse IT components within easy-to-follow topology viewers and dashboards.

      Delivering a Unified Experience Across Applications, Systems and Service Management

    • Oracle Enterprise Manager's planned integration with My Oracle Support will enable customers to take advantage of a unified experience across applications, system and service management areas. These capabilities would be accessible from within Oracle Enterprise Manager, eliminating the need to log-in to a separate system and enabling a comprehensive management and support view from a central console.

    • Through proactive patch notification, recommendations and automated processes, customers can achieve greater insight into their Oracle software stack, streamline manual tasks, improve quality of service and customer satisfaction, and reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
