PRESS RELEASE
Mountain View, CA – August 10, 2009 – HyTrust, Inc., the leader in policy management and access control for virtualization infrastructure, today announced that it has joined the Intel' Enabled Solutions Acceleration Alliance (Intel' ESAA) with the aim of working jointly with Intel to develop a recipe that brings trust attestation—starting at the hardware root—to policy-driven, multi-tenant virtual environments.
Intel' ESAA enables resellers to more easily build and deploy IT solutions by giving them access to pre-validated configuration guides ("recipes") co-developed by Intel and independent hardware and software vendors such as HyTrust. A one-stop resource for pre-validated hardware and software solutions, Intel ESAA helps its members build relationships, reduce engineering costs, and compete with products based on the proven reliability of Intel Server, Workstation, and Desktop Products.
“The explosive growth of virtualization and cloud technologies also brings new security challenges," said Ned Thanhouser, Intel ESAA Program Manager. “HyTrust's membership in the Intel ESAA program further enables resellers to bring trust and security to cloud environments deployed on Intel server platforms."
The solution will utilize Intel' Trusted Execution Technology (Intel' TXT), supported by Intel's latest generation of server processors, the Intel' Xeon' Processor 5600 series. Intel TXT helps attest to platform identity and trustworthiness with hardware-based mechanisms that enable the controlled launch and registration of critical infrastructure software. This serves to establish trust and protect the confidentiality and integrity of software applications and data —a critical prerequisite for building a trusted cloud computing platform.
Combining VMware platform technology currently in development with HyTrust Appliance complements Intel’s TXT boot measurement via the VMware vSphere™ 4.1 Web Services SDK. It determines and manages which virtualized cloud operations are allowed or disallowed based on the integrity of the underlying platform.
“HyTrust Appliance provides control, visibility and security for shared environments that are a foundation of internal and external clouds,” said Eric Chiu, CEO of HyTrust. “Working with innovators like Intel and VMware allows our rich policy engine to drive security zone definition all the way down to hardware, paving the way for broader cloud acceptance.”
