Product Watch: Security Scoreboard Goes Live
New site brings security vendors and products under one roof, along with customer reviews
February 1, 2010
A new Website launched today called Security Scoreboard includes information on more than 600 security vendors and their products, as well as customer reviews. The site is aimed at CISOs, CIOs, and others looking for a one-stop shop to find security product and services information.
Boaz Gelbord, an information security executive in New York, says he came up with Security Scorecard as a way for organizations to easily find side-by-side profiles and information on security vendors in specific areas.
"I constantly face the challenge of trying to quickly identify and assess the security vendors who offer solutions in a given space. While there is a ton of available vendor content -- webinars, press releases, whitepapers, etc. -- I have always found one vital resource to be missing in the purchase process. Until now there hasn't been one convenient and objective place to see side-by-side profiles of all the vendors addressing a specific security challenge," Gelbord blogged today. "Security Scoreboard fills this gap by providing a starting point to get oriented about all available solutions before doing a deep dive on those vendors that seem the most promising."
Users will be able to post reviews about their experiences with the vendors, plus the site provides searches by vendor name or product category, such as database security and endpoint security and control.
Vendors also can get free Google Analytics reports on traffic searching for their company pages on the site; they also have the option to upgrade to a "premium" page, where they can expand on the listing on the site. "In keeping with the transparency that is at the heart of Security Scoreboard, this structure will be clearly described on the website," Gelbord blogged.
