PRESS RELEASE

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 29, 2009 " A recently released research report highlights the key technology, process and management requirements for enterprises to successfully deploy and maintain growth of wireless LAN deployments " highlighting technologies that are unique to AirMagnet Inc., the leader in security, performance and compliance solutions for wireless LANs (WLANs). The Aberdeen Group report, titled, Wireless LAN 2009: From Network of Convenience to Business Critical Infrastructure, states that wireless intrusion prevention, WLAN site survey software and WLAN radio spectrum analysis are among the top technologies implemented by enterprises defined in the report as Best-in-Class implementations. Of these deployments, 73 percent used a wireless intrusion prevention system, nearly 60 percent used site survey software and roughly 50 percent had spectrum analysis tools in place. AirMagnet Enterprise, the company's 24x7 WLAN security and monitoring system, AirMagnet Survey and AirMagnet Spectrum Analyzer solutions are well known in the WLAN industry as leading security management and troubleshooting solutions. Each product offers unique industry capabilities, such as the only dedicated monitoring solution with integrated hardware-accelerated spectrum analysis (in its AirMagnet Smart Sensors). AirMagnet Survey has also recently added critical voice-over-WLAN capabilities to ensure reliable deployments. By implementing these technologies, Aberdeen found that enterprises were able to provide a safer and more reliable enterprise WLAN environment. Specifically, the report states the Best in Class deployments had a:

  • 15 percent increase in network coverage

    • 15 percent decrease in the frequency of dropped network connections

    • 10 percent increase in failed security breaches

    • 14 percent increase in quality of the end-user customer experience "While Best-in-Class organizations have long taken the necessary steps to facilitate secure, performance-driven WLANs, many more organizations are now beginning to realize the necessity and effectiveness of tools such as those AirMagnet provides," said Chris Roeckl, vice president of marketing at AirMagnet. "As WLANs proliferate, the need for proactive security and performance management will continue to take center stage." Indeed, the report provides key recommendations for ensuring successful WLAN deployments. "If you're not already centrally managing, monitoring and deploying, acquire the tools to do so. This will support a migration from reactive problem solving to proactive resolution," the report states, adding, "Your WLAN need not be a security risk. Address security vulnerabilities before valuable assets and intellectual property of your organization are violated or compromised."
