PRESS RELEASE

anta Clara, Calif. -- Feb. 1, 2011 – Avenda Systems, the leading provider of identity-centric network access security, today announced the development of new network presence platform and visibility features that deliver a new level of user, device, topology, and access policy correlation not found in traditional NAC solutions. Today’s shift of users’ preference for tablets versus laptops, and from company-issued phones, to personal smartphones is forcing IT managers to quickly take action to ensure that corporate and personal assets can securely co-exist on an organization’s network.

These new correlation capabilities provide the easiest, most effective and accurate way for organizations to track users and their devices on the network in real-time and on a historical basis. This new approach maintains an inventory and characteristics of devices, and shows a global view of where devices are connected across your networks. Avenda’s solution helps organizations track device and network usage characteristics for smartphones, laptops, tablets, VoIP phones, network infrastructure assets and other 802.11-enabled devices, regardless of vendor or operating system type.

“We believe that adding visibility and intelligence to network access control brings rich contextual information to access decision making; and to overall control capabilities,” said Santhosh Cheeniyil, VP of Engineering at Avenda Systems.”By melding data and events from all security and networking components we are enabling network and security organizations to work together to support the rapid influx of smart devices, for example.”

The new platform’s capabilities combine disparate pieces of network access and flow data from multiple network and security devices to proactively solve network access problems, and perform forensics related to network access. Intelligent data correlation helps gain better visibility in a growing network of smart devices, helps pinpoint digital rights management claims, and provides more granular historical data for compliance concerns such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements.
