PRESS RELEASE

College Park, MD – October 27, 2016 - Kaprica Security, experts in mobility and cybersecurity, today announced that Samsung Electronics has acquired its enterprise mobile device configuration and development software Tachyon. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will automate the "last mile" of configuration for Samsung’s enterprise mobile customers, addressing third-party apps and complex scenarios when no API alternative exists. Tachyon is already in many enterprises, automatically configuring large quantities of Samsung devices with the requisite settings, apps and data, while eliminating the delays, errors and security vulnerabilities common to the process. By completely automating setup and deployment, Samsung’s mobile enterprise customers can securely expedite the configuration for thousands of devices from days or hours to just minutes.

For Samsung mobile enterprise customers, the acquisition of Tachyon will provide the turnkey automation that is essential to expedite project timelines, reduce both total cost of ownership (TCO) and risk and maintain quality control. Tachyon will complement the Knox Customization solution by building upon its current device configuration and customization capabilities, thereby reinforcing the ability to tailor Samsung Android devices for special-purpose use. Tachyon is proven to eliminate vulnerabilities associated with manual or partially automated kitting and provisioning.

"Tachyon is a game changer for organizations with large or complex mobile deployments," said Jongshin Kim, Vice President of Global Mobile B2B team at Samsung Electronics. "Samsung is expected to officially relaunch Tachyon as part of the Knox portfolio after integrating it with the Knox security platform."

The benefits of Tachyon for Samsung enterprise mobile customers include:

  • Greater speed

  • Greater accuracy and security

  • Reduced cost and risk

  • Full customization

  • Seamless user experience

  • Infrastructure flexibility

Prior to the acquisition, Tachyon’s users included Federal Law Enforcement, the Department of Defense (DoD), hospital systems and vehicle fleets in the US and Europe.

"Kaprica has worked with Samsung as a valued partner since Tachyon’s inception," said Doug Britton, CEO of Kaprica Security. "The acquisition validates that our team’s commitment and ability to build a product that puts the power of mobility in business users’ hands faster has succeeded."

After the deal, Kaprica’s leadership and product development teams will focus on the company’s next generation vehicle defense product, RunSafe Security.
