Information services and technology firm Neustar has agreed to acquire Verisign's recursive Public DNS service for an undisclosed amount.
Under the terms of the acquisition, the address space for Verisign Public DNS, such as the broadly used 64.6.64.6, will be integrated into Neustar's recursive UltraDNS Public service. The idea is to strengthen UltraDNS by improving its ability to protect against malicious traffic.
Neustar will continue to provide Verisign's Public DNS users with service and support, officials write in a release. Current Verisign users will be migrated to the Neustar infrastructure.
This deal builds on Neustar's previous purchases of Verisign's DDoS and DNS customers, which took place in 2018. The company's security products include Neustar DNS, Neustar UltraDNS Firewall, the DNS Shield, and its UltraDDoS Protect.
