PRESS RELEASE
Portsmouth, NH " May 27, 2009 " NitroSecurity, Inc., a long-time innovator of intrusion prevention solutions, has introduced new core technology into its popular NitroGuard Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) for the protection of critical 10-Gigabit network links.
Now NitroGuard IPS provides enterprises with the benefit of intrusion prevention and network flow collection at active throughputs of up to five Gigabits per second, while reducing the cost and limitations typically associated with hardware-based acceleration.
As the number and variety of security attacks continue to multiply, including viruses, worms, spyware, Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks and zero day threats, enterprises need a solid line of defense to detect, analyze and block attacks in real time. The new 10-Gigabit NitroGuard IPS 5000 operates at exceptional throughput speeds, with a high number of concurrent sessions, while at the same time analyzing security events, logs, network behavior and flow data for anomalies. Using the industry's fastest data management engine, NitroGuard is able to return queries and analytics in seconds, even on massive amounts of historical data and without affecting NitroGuard's ability to continue processing new events.
"We're tying performance to the processor," said Salo Fajer, chief strategy officer of NitroSecurity. "As processors continue to improve exponentially year after year, we can expect the capability of our architecture and products to improve as well." In addition to acceleration of its intrusion detection engine, the NitroGuard architecture received full multi-thread support, and optimization of all levels of computing I/O, improving overall performance and scalability. "We're offering hardware-based performance, but in a flexible and highly scalable software-based system," said Fajer.
In addition to its speed, NitroGuard IPS provides advanced threat detection techniques through its integration with NitroView ESM, the Company's security information and event management system. As a result, information security professionals can monitor and protect core network connections with NitroGuard's combination of IPS, firewall and network flow collection capabilities, achieving a true defense-in-depth security strategy and improving overarching security management operations.
With this release, improvements in throughput will also be seen across all current-generation NitroGuard IPS appliances after a software upgrade. The NitroGuard 5000 offers either four 10-Gigabit interfaces, or 12 1-Gigabit interfaces. The NitroGuard 5000 was released earlier this year and is generally available at this time.
