Akamai Acquires Asavie

Akamai has announced the purchase of Asavie, a Dublin, Ireland-based company that offers a platform for managing mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Details of the all-cash transaction were not announced.

Asavie's mobile, IoT, and security products and services will become part of the Akamai Security and Personalization Services product line that is typically sold to carriers, Akamai said in announcing the acquisition. Asavie has been active in developing customer bases in highly regulated vertical markets such as healthcare, financial services, and education. Its software-defined solutions are sold as highly scalable, an important consideration for carriers and other large-scale service resellers.
