PRESS RELEASE

Pittsburgh, PA (6 November  2018) – The CMMI Institute today announced an updated Cybermaturity Platform, a comprehensive enterprise cybersecurity capability and risk assessment solution. The updates are a part of CMMI Institute’s regular cadence of updates and reflect the need for frameworks of best practices to continually adapt to new threats and to ensure it is consistent with the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)Cybersecurity Framework version 1.1, released spring 2018.

The updates include enhancements that address changes to the cybersecurity landscape,  addition of one new category and ten new subcategories from the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, the 2018 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) and a comprehensive set of cybersecurity best practices.

“Today’s updates showcase the importance of recognizing how quickly the threat landscape changes,” said Kirk Botula, CMMI Institute CEO. “With the pace of industry standard updates and the changing cyber threat landscape, we believe six-month cycles are a necessary cadence for incorporating best practice updates for building new cyber capabilities. Organizations look to CMMI to identify new and emerging best practices and build them into our framework in a timely fashion, so everyone benefits.”

Updates to the CMMI Cybermaturity Platform, the only cloud-hosted cybersecurity maturity management application, are now available. As a cloud hosted solution, CMMI’s platform enables its clients to quickly gain knowledge even with the latest threats, trends or relevant framework updates.

The CMMI Institute developed the platform to help enterprise technology and business leaders understand and improve confidence in their cybersecurity programs and investments. The CMMI Cybermaturity Platform features custom risk profiling, assessments, gap analyses, and roadmap functions, and is in use across multiple sectors including financial services, healthcare and manufacturing. It addresses industry concerns and organizational challenges, including confidence in cybersecurity initiatives and prioritizing security programs. The platform

gives businesses real-time knowledge of best cybersecurity practices, so organizations can make evidence-based decisions on how to improve cybersecurity programs.

“On the G2 engineering team at work to update the CMMI Cybermaturity Platform, we learn every day what’s important to CMMI stakeholders around the world, especially related to risk management and proven practices,” said Greg Witte, senior cyber security engineer for G2, CMMI platform customers “tell me that for the first time, they’re not dealing with controls and checkboxes–they’re seeing a cybersecurity roadmap, and that has made all the difference,” he added.
