Barracuda Buys Bot-Battling Tech from InfiSecure
The intellectual property acquired will add to Barracuda's bot-detection capabilities.
Barracuda announced today that it has acquired bot-detection technology from InfiSecure Technologies.
Barracuda acquired the intellectual property and certain other assets from InfiSecure, but did not acquire InfiSecure's shares. InfiSecure will not continue as a separate company.
The technology will allow Barracuda to better detect bots that more closely mimic human behavior, including those bots written for specific applications and those that are "low and slow" bots — bots that generate messages at a pace that echoes human typing rates, rather than the rapid-fire messages possible with automation.
InfiSecure's technology is based on machine-learning functions that can profile applications to provide application-specific protection from bot attacks.
